Functional Peptides That Target Biomembranes: Design and Modes of Action

نویسندگان

چکیده

Biomembranes are important targets in molecular design. Our laboratory has been exploring the design of functional peptides that modulate membrane barrier function, lipid packing, and structure. Evaluation results obtained analyses cellular mechanisms have yielded with more refined designs functions. This review highlights progress made our towards development unique properties.

MicroRNAs that target RGS5

Objective(s):An earlier meta-analysis on gene expression data derived from four microarray, two cDNA library, and one SAGE experiment had identified RGS5 as one of only ten non-housekeeping genes that were reported to be expressed in human trabecular meshwork (TM) cells by all studies. RGS5 encodes regulator of G-protein signaling-5. The TM tissue is the route of aqueous fluid outflow, and is r...

Probiotics: Challenging the Traditional Modes of Action

A trial was conducted to evaluate the performance of broiler birds which supplemented with a commercial inactivated probiotic. Four hundred and fifty day old broiler chickens were allocated into 3 treatments with 6 replicates each. Each replicate was placed on clean wood shavings in floor pens receiving feed and water ad libitum. In treatment 1, feed was supplemented with 500 g/ton of a heat-in...

Interaction between antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) and their primary target, the biomembranes

Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) are produced by almost all living organisms as a component of their immune system representing the first line weapons against infective agents. During the past two decades these key factors of the innate immunity have been isolated from many different organisms including mammals, insects, plants; bacteria and amphibians. Although AMPs are an heterogeneous group of ...

the effect of functional/notional approach on the proficiency level of efl learners and its evaluation through functional test

in fact, this study focused on the following questions: 1. is there any difference between the effect of functional/notional approach and the structural approaches to language teaching on the proficiency test of efl learners? 2. can a rather innovative language test referred to as "functional test" ge devised so so to measure the proficiency test of efl learners, and thus be as much reliable an...
